December 11, 2015, Lomonosov facility building of Lomonosov Moscow State University hosted the opening ceremony of the All-Russia Forum of student sports clubs.
The association of student sports clubs of Russia (ASSC of Russia) is a community of active students and post-graduates who want to make sport accessible to everyone. January 24th, 2013 at the meeting of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin with the representatives of student sports clubs the decision was made to establish a nationwide youth public organization, which has included 200 SSC up to now. The choice of Moscow State University as a platform for the sports festival held in Moscow from 9 to 12 December is not accidental, as the Student Sports Club of Moscow State University is one of the oldest members of the association.
“Today, you are honored to open a new sports hall of Lomonosov facility building, and rightly so, after all, by being engaged in the development of university sports you show how important it is to keep a healthy lifestyle,” – said Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Antonovich Sadovnichy, welcoming the participants. The chairman of the Executive Committee, Anna Medvedeva, thanked the rectors of Russian universities, who actively support the student sport, as, in her opinion, the union of experience and youth is the key to success.
The opening ceremony was pursued by exhibition performances of SSC representatives of various universities, by master-classes of famous athletes, by tournaments in volleyball and table tennis. Round tables were also held at the forum to discuss the topical issues of the development of mass student sports, and anyone who felt like that could pass standards of “Student test of ASSC of Russia”, demonstrating his willingness to pass the nationwide sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”.
