The author reveals the shortcomings of civil society in post-Soviet Russia and examines the picture of factors associated with promoting good citizenship among Russians as well as civic education curricular. What is evident from this article is that the agents of political socialization, particularly family, schools may have a bigger role to play in improving student civic development, political knowledge, and political participation skills. Thoughtful civic education programs may go a long way.
