Data collected within the territory bounded by Lake Bolon ­ Sovetskaya Gavan transect in the south, Lake Bolon ­ the Tugurskiy Bay transect in the west, and the Sea of Okhotsk coastline in the north and east in 1977­1997 is presented in the article. The basins of all the large lakes (Bolon, Evoron, Chukchagir, Udyl, Kizi, Kadi, Dalzha, Dzhevdokha, Orlik, Orel, Chlia, and Mukhtel), some small lakes, many rivers, some areas along the Tatarskiy Strait and seacoast (the Schastia, Ekaterina's, Alexandra's, Nerpichiy, Nikolay's, and Ulbanskiy Bays, and the mouth of the Amur river) and the Shantarskie islands were explored. All basic publications on the region are reviewed. A total of 12 species of Anserini tribe were registered. Anser fabalis middendorffii, Cygnopsis cygnoides and Cygnus cygnus nest in the region, Branta canadensis, Chen caerulescens, Cygnus atratus, Cygnus olor visit the region occasionally, Branta [bernicla] nigricans, Anser albifrons, Anser erythropus, Anser fabalis serrirostris, and Cygnus bewickii are migrants, and the status of Anser anser is unknown. Articles devoted to individual species contain notes on taxonomy, data on the status, distribution, numbers, seasonal migrations, habitats, reproduction, moult, and impact of anthropogenic factors. Particular attention is paid to the nesting and rare species. The Amur liman is assumed to be the stopover point for the most of the Cygnus bewickii jankowskii population during their migration. Decline in numbers is stated for most of the species.
