Center of Scientific Information of the Chemistry Department of Moscow State University

The Center of Scientific Information of the Chemistry Department of Moscow State University was established in 1986, pioneered by O.A. Reutov (the Head of the Chair of Organic Chemistry, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR), V.M. Potapov (Professor of Chemistry), M.A. Kazankova (the Chairperson of the University Library Board, Associate Professor of Chemistry) and Yu.Ya. Kuzyakov (the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Professor of Chemistry).

Our Work

Advanced research in modern chemistry has become virtually impossible to carry on without an extensive search for the relevant information in the enormous ocean of knowledge accumulated by humankind. If it were not for the powerful computer and networking technology, scientists could never cope with the problem far more difficult than finding a needle in a haystack. To develop and maintain state-of-art information technology facilities and to help the faculty and students efficiently use the facilities in their research work was the primary purpose the Center of Scientific Information was founded for.

We:

Currently we are working on a project called The Chemnet. The Chemnet, a working prototype of which already exists, is to become a corporate network to pool the resources of information on chemistry from many Russian academic institutions. In turn, The Chemnet itself will become a part of the network that links together all Universities and other academic institutions in Russia.
