BIOREMEDIATION OF OIL CONTAMINATED SITES BY 'RHODER'
-
During the last decade, Moscow State University together with researchers
from All-Russian Institute of Oil has isolated pure cultures of various
oil-biodestructors belonging mainly to genera Rhodococcus. On the basis
of these cultures several composition of biopreparations (general commercial
name is 'Rhoder') for elimination of oil pollution have been proposed and
certificated (No. 77.99.11.515P.4865.8.99, Russian Ministry of Health).
-
Numerous testing of these preparations in laboratory and field conditions
has shown their high efficiency for bioremediation of water surfaces as
well as different soils (see photos).
-
The form of application of the preparations is a cell suspension (mixture
2-4 individual bacteria, cell density -109-1010 cells/ml)
supplemented by some mineral nutrients. The optimal concentrations are
0.1-1 kg of wet cell suspension per 1 000 square meters of treated surface.
Duration of treatment is usually 2 weeks in summer season. Temperature
and pH ranges of applicability are 12-37 oC and 5.8-7.8, respectively.
