Strategic Response (Part 1, Part 2) (Dertnig S.)

This course is intended to enable students to understand a full set of strategic tools and apply them to realistic business situations. The scope of this course combines original strategic thinking, like experience curve and BCG matrix, with latest frontiers in understanding world changing megatrends, the internet advantage and covers scenario planning and success factors in strategic planning. The final part of the course deals with questions on how to implement a strategy in a company.
The course consists of 10 specific lectures and 2 individual team feedback sessions. The students are supposed to work in teams of 4-5 students. Each lecture needs preparation and active classroom discussions/presentations and a final written exam.

Comparative analysis of foreign management systems (Kawato A.)

Financial markets instruments application, pricing and calculations (Matrosov S.)

The course is dedicated to financial markets instruments pricing, calculations and to practical application of financial markets and investment instruments to the activity of the following entities:

  • companies, investing in financial assets;
  • staff/managers of financial intermediaries, such as banks, investment companies, insurance companies and pension funds;
  • securities issuers; private investors; capital market analysts;
  • teachers and coaches of financial markets trading, infrastructure, investment, financial markets calculations etc.;
  • bank's treasuries;
  • exporters/importers, who carry currency (FX) risk and exported/imported goods/services price change risk and who need to hedge it;
  • companies and banks, borrowing and/or lending at floating rates needed to be hedged;
  • financial intermediaries (banks, investment companies, insurance companies and pension funds), who need to hedge their own or client's assets, such as securities or currency.
Fundamentals of common law & bankruptcy in the USA (Glinka G.)

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of the legal system of the United States, the operation of commercial law and relations of debtors and creditors within this system, and the basic elements of consumer and business bankruptcy liquidation and reorganization for domestic and international cases under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code with, as appropriate, reference to comparable provisions of Russian law.

International Service Innovations (Prange C.)
The course focuses on service innovations in a global environment. This involves questions of how to design innovations for different cultures and how to adapt them to meet the requirements of national cultures. Issues, such as, how to organize innovation in a multinational firms and how to co-create service innovations with customers will be discussed as well as questions like how to enter a foreign market and whether late-comer firms are subject to competitive disadvantages. The course is intended to provide you with detailed, in-depth knowledge of international service innovations and multinational service companies. Class discussion and assignments are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills you will need to 1) critically evaluate scholarly research in the field, 2) communicate ideas effectively in written and oral form, 3) understand the practical challenges of service innovations.
Introduction to Private Equity (Golikov V.)

Private Equity has been a significant driving force in world's largest M&A transactions. Private Equity work requires practical knowledge of capital markets, key financial as well as strategic players, ability to conduct thorough analysis of the target company, be able to design and implement value added actions in timely manner.
There are five key aims the course pursues:

  • provide an understanding of the role of private equity in the economy, the structure of industry, its participants anf the forces that shape its development
  • gain knowledge of private equity model and how it works
  • sharpen students' strategic, financial and technical skills
  • improve a decision making skills
  • learn how interact with private equity professionals

Цель курса - изучение студентами основных средств, методов и приемов эффективного ведения деятельности на рынке маркетинговых коммуникаций. Анализ технологий ATL и BTL как инструментов общей маркетинговой политики фирмы. Получение слушателями навыков целеполагания в коммуникационной деятельности, согласованного с общей стратегией развития компании. Изучение основных методов выбора медиаресурсов для эффективного проведения рекламных кампаний "под ключ", основ построения взаимоотношений со СМИ. Практическое применение технологий продвижения компании на рынке, моделирование распространенных проблемных ситуаций при проведении рекламных кампаний в реалиях современного медиабизнеса.

Управленческое консультирование (Коршунова С.В.)

Целью курса является рассказать в доступной и системной форме о том, что такое управленческий консалтинг и какова его роль в развитии компаний, а также получить информацию об основных процессах, позволяющих компаниям побеждать. Курс будет полезен студентам, если они планируют стать руководителями крупных фирм, начать собственный бизнес, пойти работать в государственные структуры или стать консультантами.
После изучения данного курса студенты будут:

  • Понимать, что такое управленческий консалтинг, какие темы он охватывает.
  • Понимать, какие основные задачи стоят перед руководителями организаций, и какие наиболее эффективные методы решения применяют современные успешные руководители.
  • Обладать основными навыками по постановке стратегических вопросов и приоритизации стратегических задач.
