В четверг, 6 октября 2005 года, в 15:40 в конференц-зале НМУ, Б. Власьевский, 11 состоится доклад «Theory of valuations on manifolds». Лектор – Semyon Alesker (Tel-Aviv University).

In this talk we introduce a new class of finitely additive measures on any smooth manifold which we call smooth valuations. This notion generalizes in a sense the classical notion of continuous valuation from convexity. This class of valuations appears naturally in various questions of integral geometry.

This object turns out to have quite rich structures to be discussed in the talk: multiplicative structure, canonical involution, filtration. Then we will describe their properties. Basic examples of smooth valuations are smooth densities and the Euler characteristic. The latter is the unit in the algebra of valuations.
