Born: December 25, 1954.

Graduated with honors from MSU Faculty of Physics (1981); Candidate of Physics and Mathematics(1989), Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (2004).

Engineer at MSU Scobeltsyn Nuclear Physics Institute (1981); Associate Professor (1996), Professor (2005), Chair of High Energy Physics Department.

Alexander P. Chernyaev has published over 200 works, including 6 textbooks. He has been Scientific Adviser to 5 Candidates and 1 Doctor of Physics and Mathematics.

His interests cover accelerator applications in medicine and biology. It was on his initiative and under his leadership that medical physics both as a field of research and an academic area for students to specialize in was established at MSU

Alexander P. Chernyaev is a member of the Academic Councils at MSU Scobeltsyn Nuclear Physics Institute, at the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Faculty of Physics, at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine. He is a member of the Council of Russian Medical Physics Association, of the Scientific Boards of the Journal of Medical Physics and the Journal of Nuclear Instruments. He has been a holder of grants from the Moscow Government (2001, 2002), from the Fund for Russian Universities (2004, 2005), from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (2007, 2008).

Alexander P. Chernyaev served in various capacities on MSU United Trade Union Committee from 1989 to 1994, in 1998 he became member of Presidium of Moscow Trade Union of academics and researchers. Since 2000 he has been serving in various positions in the District council.

Alexander P. Chernyaev has been awarded The second degree Order for Service to the Fatherland, The Municipal Council Certificates of Merit, a few medals.
