NEW YEAR GREETINGS from President of Russian Rector' Union Moscow State Lomonosov University's Rector Vice-President of Russian Academy of Sciences, academisian

Victor A. Sadovnichiy

2010

Dear colleagues! Dear friends!
We are approaching the new 2010 year. We leave behind us a year of serious trials and overcoming difficulties, a year of active innovations and a search of strategical decisions. I believe that our corporation had duly fulfilled its tasks for 2009. A reshuffle took place in the higher school system: some federal and regional universities with special status were singled out I believe that they will be the base of new shape of Russian education, the cornerstone of the web cooperation of all higher education institutions of Russia. We have managed to preserve the fundamental nature of our higher school, its accessibility for urban and rural alumni from different income families. We had placed at a new level the school Olympiads, keeping the unique national traditions of talent search. We have experienced a year of unified state exam and have started serious work to optimize it and make it more open to society. At the IXth Rector's Congress, we have proposed to international university community to revive and develop approaches to education from positions of humanism, academical freedom, respect to worlds' variety and patriotism. The tomorrow asks for it, the past confirms it. We did it together! Now we look further, deciding what our education would be, what our country would be tomorrow. It depends of the future year Year of Teacher. I am glad that we have decided to patronage over high school to form its new image. We have to support teachers in their strive to get new knowledge and establish interaction with children.

We have to raise to new heights the RRU's charity initiative "Talent of Overcoming". Disabled children must feel our support and feel themselves our children. We face a year of new achievements to reap in near and far future. Together we can rise new generations of Russians. They will present our Motherland decently in the third millennium. I greet you, dear friends! I wish a Happy New Year to all professors, teachers, students and postgraduates. I sincerely hope that 2010 will be a year of professional zeal, inspiration and support from friends!
