President of the Russian Union of Rectors

Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University since 1992.

Field of scientific research: mathematics, mechanics and computer science.

Sadovnichy's researches relate to the theory of differential operators and functional analysis. He has obtained important theoretical and applied results related to the issues of dynamic simulation of controlled flights, in particular, of spacecrafts and aircrafts. This work formed the basis for creation of the first simulator of zero-gravity in the Earth conditions in the world.

A member of the Board since 1992, President of the Russian Union of Rectors since 1994. President of the Eurasian Association of Universities, a member of the Standing Committee of the Conference of European Universities Rectors, an honorary member and an honorary doctor of many scientific foreign academies, a member of the board of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. A member of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for Science, Technology and Education, the Scientific Council of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, a member of the Council for the Russian language of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Awards: the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the 4th, 3rd and 2nd degree, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labour, the Orders of the Russian Orthodox Church: the Order of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh of the 1st degree, the Order of Saint Macarius, Metropolitan of Moscow of the 1st degree, the Order of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow of the 2nd degree, and medals. Laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and the Russian Federation, the Prize of M.V. Lomonosov. Awards of foreign countries.
