image Discovered by Tom Boles (UK).   This is a strange one.   After it was first discovered, it was hanging around at Mag 17, and looked like it would stay there.   Nobody bothered to take a spectra at this time.   Then Enrico Prosperi took an image of it, and found that it had brightened by more than a full magnitude (CBET 1734).   It was eventually shown to be a type II.   We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icon generated from the discovery image.   This supernova is in the Constellation Ursa Major.
