Zonal changes of the taxonomic content and functional structure of soil animal population were studied along the climatic gradient of distribution of boreal forests on West-Siberian Plain.
At the forst time peculiarities of soil communities (on example of macrofauna) of the plain dark-coniferous taiga in the centre of Northern Euroasia were revealed. Comparative analysis of soil animal communities of West-Siberian and East-European Plains allows to outline the main trend of changes of the structure and diveristy of soil animal population determined by the climatic continentality factor.
In separate subzones and on both the northern and southern ecotones of the west-Siberian taiga the intra-landscape diversity of soil communities determined by plain mesorelief was considered.
Assessment of regional diversity of the soil animal population in West-Siberian plain taiga was given, main centres of biodiversity exaggeration are outfigured. Problems of the conservations of soil biota diversity are discussed in terms of its role in the protection of biospheric functions of boreal forests of Northern Euroasia.
