The article is devoted to the analysis of the theory of structuration viewed as the basis for the work of A. Giddens, the British sociologist. The article attempts to follow the development of the main propositions of the theory starting with the interpretation of the classical sociologists by A. Giddens and ending with the theory of globalization. The paper looks at the new rules of socilological method suggested by the British sociologist, the correlation of such notions as system, structure and structuration. The theory of structuration is interpreted as the basis for A. Giddens's analysis of modern society, the latter characterised by the British sociologist as radical modern.
