The past decades of the ideological triumph of neoliberalism has caused the allocation of spatial, political, economic, and financial resources to favour economic growth at the expense of wider social benefits. The cities and the regions of the world are being transformed under the combined impact of a restructuring of the capitalist system and a technological revolution. The interaction between information technology, economic restructuring and sociospatial change through the observation of contemporary urban processes in the capitalist world is analyzed in the article.
