Khabilov T.K., Tajibaeva D.E. 2013. New data on the reproduction of the eastern barbastelle bat Barbastella leucomelas (Cretzschmar, 1826) in Tajikistan. ­ Plecotus et al. 15-16: 53­58. The first record of Barbastella leucomelas nursery colony in Northern Tajikistan is reported. The col ony of about 15­20 indi viduals was found in an abandoned dry mine in the foothills of the northern sl ope of Turkestan Rid ge. Among fi ve captured bats were one farrow female, one postlactating female and three fledged young. In the

same passage, a few meters further, we found a colony of other inhabitant of dry mines, Strelkov's long-eared bat (Plecotus str elkovi), numberin g about 20 indi viduals. Judgin g fr om examinati on of four captured animals, in that col on y were also lactatin g females and large pups nearl y of the same size as adults. Peculiarities of the reproducti ve bi ol ogy of these two bat species are discussed.
