Dr. Mikhail V. Kalyakin, DrS
Director of the Zoological Museum of Lomonosov Moscow State University; coordinator of the Section of Scientific & Public-oriented Projects of that Museum.
Was working in the Ornithology Section during 1987-2009. Member of the European Council for Bird Counting. Member of the Central Council of the Moscow Ornithological Society, member of Moscow Branch of the Russian Union for Bird Protection, member of Menzbir Ornithological Society, member of the Oriental Bird Club, member of the Aquatic Warbler Conservation Team. Deputy Editor of the annual 'Ornithology'.
Participated annually in the field works of the Russian (formerly Soviet) Vietnamese Research Tropical Center of RAS (formerly AS USSR) in 1989-1992 and in 1994. Co-editor of the serial 'Biodiversity in Vietnam' issued by that Center.
Studies jaw apparatus and trophic adaptations of passeriform birds, fauna and taxonomy of Vietnamese birds, especially Pycnonotidae; taxonomy and biology of some Palaearctic silviid birds (genera Acrocephalus, Phragmaticola, Locustella); fauna of the birds of Moscow region; fauna and trophic specialization of the White Sea birds; involved in the project of protection of Acrocephalus paludicola in Russia.
