Photo collection
This part of the museum collections includes photos, black-and-white films, photographic plates, lithographs, photographs and photographic plates of drawings and paintings, photo albums. There are also both photographs of drawings and 'direct' photographs of the earlier original interiors and exhibitions of the museum. In photos are biologists, artists, game managers, different moments in the life of the museum and its staff, expedition stories. Quality of the images sometimes is not good, as they are mostly amateur pictures. However, the captions often contain information about persons, dates, locations, and etc, that is undeniable historical value. To date, the database of this collection includes describtions of 870 items, including information about 470 scientists and persons associated with the museum activities. Most of these items are catalogued, and some of them are digitized.
