First test fire of the core stage of Energiya launch vehicle was scheduled to February 22, 1986. Four engines ignited but the test was aborted in 4.2 seconds due to failure of engine #1 booster turbopump. A highly dangerous situation developed that required brave and clever actions from the launch crew.
